The Hyperspace subscription is nice to have, though now that the prequels are all out it's lost some of its appeal. Plenty of fans have cranked them out, so again, this is nothing that you couldn't run out and find on your own. But, comparable schemes are available online for free.
The icon replacements, like the headless R2 unit for the Recycle Bin, are pretty cool.

The Windows XP theme is reasonable and reminds us of Tatooine mostly, what with the orange and grey color schemes. They cover the case well enough that you won't really notice this, but figuring that you could find something like this from a 3rd party (or even make it yourself if you're good) is a little disappointing.
The one disappointment with the case graphics is that they aren't painted onto the case or embedded into the plastic, but rather they're simply larger stickers. It would have been cool to see an entirely custom case, but it does look nice in this instance. The standard Alienware case design also works quite well with the Star Wars look and feel, which is a nice bonus. The printing is of a fairly high resolution so it looks great even up close. So then, the unique thing about this system is obviously the Star Wars aspects, so we'll start there. Other than that, everything is essentially the same (aside from the Star Wars stuff of course). As of this writing, the main difference is that you can get an AMD X2 in the standard Aurora but not in the Star Wars Edition. With either system you'll get a custom Windows XP theme, case graphics (either Light Side or Dark Side), a custom wallpaper, a Hyperspace subscription on and Sony Star Wars Video Journey sample clips.Īs mentioned, the machine is a configurable Aurora setup and you're able to set it up almost exactly the same as you would a standard Aurora. The systems are available as either a Light Side or Dark Side variant, each of which have different graphics on the case and a different desktop wallpaper. The system is essentially a standard Aurora with a Star Wars look and feel, as well as a couple digital trinkets thrown in. The Alienware Aurora: Star Wars Edition features all of the features and performance that gamers have come to expect from Alienware, but with a Star Wars look and feel. One of the newest Star Wars-branded items comes from Alienware, makers of high-end PCs and notebooks targeted at gamers.
